The Ultrasonic Silent Drive (USD) autofocus motor outputs quick and quiet autofocus. The USD even allows full-time manual focus override. Additionally, the TAP-in Console compatibility allows fine-tuning and intuitive focusing adjustments. It can even be used for firmware updates.




The eBAND and BBAR Coating suppresses flare and ghosting and renders higher contrast and color fidelity in strong lighting conditions and harsh climates. Further, the design comes with two XR, three low dispersion, and three glass-molded aspherical elements that reduce chromatic and spherical aberrations and limit distortion. Additionally, the VC image stabilization minimizes camera shake up to 5 stops for crisp handheld shooting. There are three VC modes to select from as per stability requirements. Mode 1 provides a balanced setting generally used; Mode 2 is ideal for panning movements.




The lens is appropriate for full-frame Canon EF-mount cameras; however, it is compatible with DX models also. The lens provides 36-105mm equivalent focal length in DX models. Additionally, the lens has an ergonomic and sturdy metal construction with a textured grip for improved handling.
